My Reupholstered Bench

What a wonderful March day we had here in Oklahoma. Of course, the wind was blowing as usual so I could not stay outside very long. I have a problem with allergies. Tried that last weekend and spent the rest of the weekend with my head stuffy, nose runny and generally just feeling crummy.
This weekend I picked up a bench I had reupholstered. I know it would have probably been just as cheap to go buy a new one but this one was solid and had good bones to it. See the pictures above. I think it turned out beautifully. Just ignore the bedspread. That is only temporary until I repaint my room. I have a beautiful one that will fit right into the jungle motif I am going for. When I picked up my bench I also bought 1/2 yard of other upholsetry material for my dressing table chair. It's enough to cover my dressing table chair and plenty left over to do a pillow for my bed. I think it turned out pretty good!
Right now I'm in the midst of working on another bedroom, but when it is completed I will start on the above room. I just wish I didn't have to work then I could do stuff every day to make my home look beautiful. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I enjoy each of my rooms. As I've been working on each room I have dowsized and put stuff in my shed or garage so I can have a garage sale this summer. I'm not a minimalist but I don't want a bunch of stuff around either. Well, it is getting late in the evening so guess I'll close this one down and say good night or good day to some who may live on the other side of the world!!

Oklahoma Ice Storm 2010

Aw, here I am again! Made it through the ice storm of 2010! Boy did we ever get it!! The Thursday it came in I got to work and called all our patients to see who was coming in for their appointments. All cancelled except for 4 and I tried to get them to cancel, but they wanted to come in. What can I say by the time all were completed and we left the office it was 2:00 pm and the ice had bent over our tree we had next to the office door. The hospital came and chain sawed it down!! :>( It was rather nice to have that little tree but the ice got it!! I made it to the bank to deposit my check and lo and behold just as they were going to put it into the system the lights went out. At least they gave me cash so I would have some. I got home put up the garage door, parked the car and bam! the electricity went out. I froze my butt off until Friday night. Around 9:30 the electricty came back on. I was praising and thanking God that I was on PSO and not the City of Duncan utilities. As of this blog there are still people without electricity in Marlow. I've housed different members of my church until they got electricty. Right now I have a family of 5 who are with me. It's been fun having someone in the house to talk to and enjoy. To say the least Duncan and Marlow looks like a war zone with tons of limbs and some trees falling down and lines and telephone poles broken like match sticks. Just praise God I have electricty!!!! Pictures to come

Christmas Day Snow

Well, here it is the first of Feburary and I haven't done anything since my birthday!! What can I say? My life consists of work, eat, sleep, go to church! You know the circle of life things you do! I had to work up until the day before Christmas Eve! :>( Not used to doing that but it was rather wonderful when I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to let the dog out and it was raining, BUT then when I woke up again around 8:00 it was windy and sleeting. By the afternoon snow had joined in. To say the least I was enjoying the nice cozy, warm house and thinking I don't have to go back to work until January 4th. Christmas Day came and it was still snowing and freezing your but off cold and "YEA" the puppy dog and I had Christmas all to ourselves since my sister and her family were coming in from Houston and got stuck in a hotel in Davis on Christmas Eve. Ah, what a wonderful peaceful day!!! By Saturday I was going a little stir crazy from being in the house for two days, but it turned out to be a sunny day so I got out and shoveled the snow and wouldn't you know typical Oklahoma weather there was a layer of ice underneath, but I got enough off to get the car out and at least make a run to Walmart for some goodies that I needed. I can say this was a memorable Christmas and one I throughly enjoyed!! As soon as I can get the photos off the memory card I'll add some to this post!! Doesn't my house look beautiful and pristine with the snow? I think so.
