LESS IS MORE FOR SEPTEMBER

             Spending Less!

That's my goal for the month of September.  I want to cut back on frivolous spending. You know those times you stop at the store for something to eat and drink on your way to work or you go to the grocery store and purchase items that are not on your list.  Or eat out at lunch every day. Here's my goal: No spending unless its an absolute necessity!

So here are some of the things I'll do to help curb spending for the month of September.

1. Eat breakfast before I go to work or take it to work with me
2. Take lunch to work or run home and eat (I only live about 5 to 7 minutes     from work)
3. Cook at least one good meal over the weekend that will allow me to eat on it during the next week.
4. Have an alternate item I can eat when I get tired of cooked meal. i.e. sandwich meat, etc.
5. Plan meals to cook for the entire month of September. (used to do this but need to start again)
6. Purchase only what is on my grocery list.
7. Cut out junk food spending when buying groceries and on weekends.
8. Identify any other places where spending can be cut back.

There ya have it!  I'm hoping this way I'll eliminate all the cokes, pepsi, etc and junk food that I tend to eat too much of AND cut out spending on stuff I really don't need.

I want to be wise in how I spend the money that God has blessed me with.  The area's I mentioned above are at least one of them that I can readily work on.  PLUS any money I save will go toward putting on bills and getting them paid off. Ultimately there are really two goals I have in mind. One is to curb unneeded spending and the other to get out of debt.  The less I spend on unneeded items the more I can apply that money to debt.

I'll let you know at the end of September if I made my goals or if I slid down the slippery slope and failed.  I'm going to stand and say before hand "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am more than a conqueror.  I can do this and my flesh may scream but I will succeed!"

Let September come and the fun begin!!

Back Where I started From

Heller everyone!  It's been a while since I've posted anything so thought I would do one while I am at work.  Our system is down and we're not sure when it will come up so figured I might as well tell everyone my good news.

                                             I'M BACK AT HALLIBURTON!!

YEA!! Not in the same department as before, thank God, but in a newly created one.  I knew I would never be back unless it was a God thing and this definitely was one. I had a friend I used to work with when I was in A/P (Accounts Payable). She had left about 7 months before I did.  We kept in contact during those 3 1/2 years.  We both found out we missed the benefits that we used to have at Halliburton.  Last year our old A/P supervisor called us both on the same day to let us know he was offering us temporary jobs for about "six months".   We both knew the temp jobs would turn into full time.  She took the job, but I declined because I was working full time at a job I really loved. No benefits at the job, but figured God had taken care of me for 3 1/2 years He would continue until I was hired back full time, if at all.  My friend finally got hired back in A/P and she's happy as a clam.  She kept me up on all the job postings for A/P, but I never felt peaceful about applying for any of them.  One day she called and told me they were hiring for a new dept that was going to be at the Technology Center here in Duncan. Technology is an awesome building to work in.  It's like being in the country with lush grounds and a huge pond in the back with picnic tables to sit and eat lunch at.   I thought about it for a couple of weeks and finally went on line and put in my application.

Fast forward about 3 weeks later--I got an interview!!!  I went in on Friday the 13th of April for the interview.  She stated they would let me know by Monday afternoon.  I had told God that if He wanted me back at Halliburton then He would open the door for me to come back.  The funny thing was when I was leaving the interview I started to say "Thank you for interviewing me" and it came out "Thank you for hiring me!" The lady who was interviewing me was the supervisor over the dept.  She said, "You've got lots of confidence."  I laughed and said, "I was trying to say Thank you for interviewing me, but yes I do hope you hire me."

Saturday I went on line to look at my emails and found an job offer letter from Halliburton.  I had received it Friday afternoon about 5:30 pm.  I immediately sent back the offer letter with the accept checked.  I was so excited! Never believe the myth that Friday the 13th is bad!! That's just something else the devil likes us to believe!  It's just another day, but for me that Friday the 13th was wonderful. Now I have medical insurance, dental, vision, life insurance and much more. PLUS, and this is the God thing--I got all my time back and vacation back just as if I had never left.  Now wouldn't you say that was God thing?  I definitely would.  I started training on April 30th.  Figure I'll stay here until Papa tells me to move on or quit or whatever, but until then I'm going to enjoy being back!  I'm really enjoying the job and the nice thing is I go in at 11:30 am and work till 8:00 pm, so I can be here in case Alaska or the West Coast has any questions about anything and so I can cover all the work queues for that area.  I do have a partner in crime (LOL) who stays also, so I'm not totally by myself, well, except when either of us are on vacation or out for the day.  The downside to the job at this point is the work can be slow at times and that I don't like.  I want to stay busy, but I thank God I am back here and that He placed me in the building I always wanted to be in.  Here's an aerial view of the Technology Center in Duncan.  See the first long building?  I'm in the back half of that building.  This is only temporary until they have our offices setup and then we will be in the very last building by the oil rig.

Had to tell all my blog friends the good news.  And, oh yes,  forgot to add this the pay is much better!!

Organizing My Earrings

Hello everyone.  I haven't posted anything for a long time. Yes, I know ya'll already realize that, but for the past several months I have spent so much time on the computer at work that I just haven't wanted to get on it when I come home. PLUS  I've been having computer problems.  The problem has been fixed, YEA! So
on  to better things--I haven't been crafting much, but this weekend I had a sudden desire to have all my earrings in a place where the pairs would be easier to find.  So, I started thinking about what I needed to do to get my earrings organized.

This was ok for awhile but I got tired of dumping them out on the dresser to find the matching earrings I wanted to wear that day.  What I wanted was something easy not complicated.  Something I could do over the weekend. Well, it finally hit me what I needed.

Here's what I came up with. As stated nothing complicated but easy! I'm not sure if I had seen something similar in someone's blog or not, but if I did I cannot remember whose it was or I would give them credit.

Scrapbook paper, 8x10 picture frame and some plastic craft mesh--hey that's what I call it. What it's really called, well your guess is as good as mine!  I found it in the craft section of Walmart.  I spray painted the picture frame with some black spray paint I already had on hand.   Started to paint it orange and glaze it with a brown glaze, but decided black would do. As for getting the paper onto the plastic mesh lets just say modge podge did not work for me so I ended up taping the edges.  People won't see the edges so figured that would work ok.  I then took a long hat pin I had and poked each little square in the mesh from the backside where I wanted to hang an earring.  Easy-peasy!  Here's the finished results.
Probably should have used a bigger frame, but this will do.  Now I know at a glance which pair to get!!  It was fun to make.  Could have had it finished in a day, but this weekend was cool and it took about 12 hours for one coat to dry. Be glad when it warms up some so I can really get my crafting mojo on and paint will dry fast.

Ya'll have a blessed week!
